John Kyriacou was born in London, England. After studying film at Southampton Solent university, he set out on a four-month backpacking trip of Southeast Asia. It is here he caught the travelling bug, and has now travelled to over 30 countries. Among his favourite travel experiences are hiking to Everest Base camp in Nepal, seeing the Taj Mahal in India and walking along the Great Wall of China.
He has lived in Australia, Canada and Indonesia. He is a travel blogger of his own website, thisgallivantinglife.com and has recently completed an MA, in Creative Writing and Publishing at Bournemouth University.
His debut novel South of Heaven is based upon his time working at a backpacker’s hostel in Bali, Indonesia and the stranger than fiction situations he found himself in.
