Nowadays, it is difficult to do everything that isn’t to do with the internet. Impossible even. There is so much of the world wrapped up in those wires and cords, it’s hard to imagine that there was a time without it. (Being born in the late 1990s doesn’t help with the memory).<\/p>\n
Everyone has a platform, from big brands to small indie creators, everyone has the means to create a platform and connect with an audience of like-minded people. It’s amazing, especially with the ongoing pandemic, I’ve discovered so many more creators. Those with an audience of millions and those reaching their first hundred. People have taken that step forward, creating a place to connect with others, to show off their talents, thoughts, dreams and humour.<\/p>\n
Now comes my point.<\/p>\n
How do you stop that voice in the back of your head saying, “No one wants to see content like that, why are you posting it?”<\/p>\n
When I want to post something, even if it is small. I’m always cautious of how it could be perceived by people who don’t know me, people outside of my circle of friends. I’ve witnessed many people, both large creators and small, be bullied off the internet because of things they said in the past. (SN)<\/p>\n
Hence why I’m cautious.<\/p>\n
For me, my career as a writer can depend on whether or not my audience likes my work.<\/p>\n
Even now, as I type I worry how each word, each sentence will be perceived by an audience. It is difficult because I want to interact with wider communities, fandoms and even people that I admire – and hope to work with one day.<\/p>\n
It’s debilitating.<\/p>\n
It affects my work, and cause my list of goals to seem even more unattainable. Affecting motivation and my ambition, dealing blow after blow to my self-confidence.<\/p>\n
There is something always stopping you, and no one can tell you how to overcome it. That’s up to you, it’s your roadblock to overcome.<\/p>\n
