Mel was born and raised in Basildon, Essex and has ventured to many other places since. She is a writer, but specialises in poetry, and is now releasing her debut poetry collection The Life of a Flower in memory of her late Grandmother.
Mel has been an avid poetry fan for many years starting with the traditional poets like Maya Angelou and Sylvia Plath and moving along to more modern poets like Stephen Sexton and his collection If All The World And Love Were Young. Mel’s poems are often written as sestinas including topics such as, grief, love and loss. Her poetry style doesn’t use capital letters, and punctuation is used rarely.
At present, Mel has an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing from University of Greenwich and is pursuing a masters degree in Creative Writing and Publishing at Bournemouth University.
